This term the children wanted to learn about exploring new interesting places. There were a number of different environments that generated intrigue – mountains, space, underwater, ice, forests etc. We will look at some famous explorers and explorations that have happened in the past whilst also looking ahead to new avenues of exploration in space and undiscovered places on Earth. The children will also have plenty of opportunities to practise some exploration skills through regular time at Forest School and also visiting local places. We hope to develop their understanding that sometimes getting things wrong, or getting lost, is a useful way of actually learning and gathering information and knowledge. Exploring as a physical process and also as a way of learning is a fantastic skill for us all to develop this term.
