Daily Routine

Our Daily Routine

 

9am - Arrival - When you arrive at Madley Pre-School your child will have an individual peg with to hang their belongings on. Lunch boxes should be placed inside the trolley. You will be greeted by their key practitioner who will encourage them to find their name label to attach to the self- registration board. A parent or family member is then welcome to come in to help choose their play for the first twenty minutes to ease the transition in to their pre-school day.  Children can choose what they would like to explore from a wide selection of stimulating play opportunities that have been derived from the children’s interests and current developmental needs. During this time two children will be selected to prepare snack with a practitioner. 

 

9.20pm – Welcome - When all of the children have arrived we come together to welcome each other, plan what we will be busy exploring and investigating that day. After the younger children’s register is taken in welcome time, the younger children are asked to wash their hands, pour their drinks before sitting at the snack table. During this time the older group have an opportunity to plan their research and play for the morning.

 

9.45am - Snack time for Nursery Group - Planning with Pre-School Children –. We enjoy a sociable snack time where children and practitioners sit down together enjoying developmentally appropriate conversations. Children are encouraged to put dishes and the cups on to the table and help to sweep the area afterwards. In the meantime pre-school group children and their teacher use this time to plan their learning.

 

10am – Pre-School Group children’s snack – Nursery group children engage in indoor/ outdoor free-play/focused activity – We enjoy a sociable snack time where pre-school children and their teacher sit down together enjoying developmentally appropriate conversations. Children are encouraged to put dishes and the cups on to the table and help to sweep the area afterwards.

All children have a choice of free-play either indoors or outdoors, during this time early year’s practitioner and teachers will either be facilitating or undertaking observations of the children’s learning experiences. Small groups of children will also be invited to join in a focussed activity that runs alongside their free play. The focussed activity is built on the children’s previous experiences, and encompasses the areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. 

 

11.20am – Reflection - Tidying Up - Around three minutes before we tidy up a practitioner softly jingles a small bell to gain everyone’s attention. To show they are listening children are encouraged to stand still and wriggle their fingers. They are advised it will be time to tidy up when the sand timer has finished. We then all come together and reflect on what they have been busy exploring that morning before being encouraged to be responsible for tidying away the remaining areas of the Pre-school. During reflection time the younger children will be supported by practitioners to begin tidying away the equipment.

 

11.30am - Rhyme and Story Time –A selection of action rhymes/songs. The groups are split to enjoy a developmentally appropriate story before coming back together for a short relaxation period to music or a meditation story.

 

12pm - Lunch Time – Older children support their younger peers to wash their hands and find their lunch box before sitting at the snack table to enjoy our lunch together. Children are encouraged to eat their sandwiches and fruit first leaving any treats for afterwards. Good manners and healthy eating habits are encouraged throughout by the practitioners and children are then asked to put their left over food in to their lunch boxes and back on to the trolley.

 

Relaxation Time – After lunch children spend a few minutes snuggled under blankets, listening to relaxing music in order to re-charge their batteries for the afternoon.

 

1.40pm - Free-Play /Focused Activity – Children will have a choice of free-play either indoors or outdoors, during this time early year’s practitioners will either be facilitating or undertaking observations of the children’s learning experiences. 3pm - Song and Story Time

The children complete their pre-school day with a music session and story before having period of relaxation to meditation music or story.

 

3.30pm – Home Time
