Headteacher Update 5th November 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to the end of the week !

This week we have conducted conversations with every member of staff regarding their 'connection' with all things Madley (learning, standards, children, teaching ....... everything !), their personal development and our approach to education. It has been an absolute privilege to spend 30 minutes with each person having an in depth discussion. It is not 'luck' that we have such dedicated, professional, inspiring and reflective staff. We conduct these conversations every term in partnership with our Educational Psychologist. There were lots of words to describe Madley including:

Compassionate, safe, respect, empathy, opportunity, friendship, innovative, values based, growth, developmental, excellence, independence, positivity, professional, openess, challenging, nurture, welcoming, caring, family, exciting, fun, practise, adventurous..... to name a few (there are more).

Like a professional sports team we use dedicated time to evaluate, coach and develop ourselves with expert external help.

1. Bonfire night (enjoy and the weather looks good for a lovely evening).

Safety - please make sure that you are safe and the children are aware (they are used to being around fires at school).

Madley Park display - no sparklers or own fireworks.

2. School requests (photos are attached)

Some of our equipment outside has become a bit 'tired' and some has come to the end of it's life. With this in mind we have some ideas that would need parental assistance and some donations (people know people who might be able to help !).

Cable drums

The large ones are good for construction to make some tables.

Large drainage pipe

This would be for us to use as a crawl through tunnel on our grounds.

Logs and wood

If anyone knows of any large logs we can use and large wood to draw games etc on for the playground and ground.

Tyre challenge (longer term project)

A 'big idea' we saw at PGL recently and thought we may (with assistance) be able to do something similar !

3. Attendance this week

Covid cases and PCR tests are low (in Herefordshire they are still very high). IF we have a few weeks of no cases then we can start to 'open up' and reinstate some things we have missed.
