  • River Carnival Saturday 29th April

    Sat 29 Apr 2017

It's the annual Hereford River Carnival on Saturday 29th April. This year is going to be even bigger and better, including a Friday night performance around the cathedral and on the river, as well as a Nozstock stage on the Saturday and the regular dog show, performance tents, food village and more!

The theme for the next three years is based around the Mappa Mundi and the mythical beasts that it portrays. As in previous years, we are planning to take part in the Saturday carnival procession and then join in the festivities on Castle Green and Bishop's Meadow. This year, Class 6 will lead our procession with African dance and drums - they have started to work on their rhythm and moves this week and it already sounds fantastic!

We need to make a start on building our large willow structure to carry in the procession.

Check out the River Carnival website for information about the event: www.rivercarnival.org.uk. including a special mention of Madley Primary School as 'Wye winner' for our amazing participation last year on the streets and the river!

  • Rogation walk on Saturday 6th May

    Thu 27 Apr 2017

    WYE DORE PARISHES

Please join us on a beautiful walk for all the family.

The Parishes of Turnastone, Vowchurch, Peterchurch, Tyberton and Madley will be approaching Rogation Sunday differently this year. On Saturday May 6th there will be a walk that links our 5 churches together. I would encourage you to come along to all or part of the walk joining us at whichever stage based on the following itinerary:

    8am-9am Breakfast in Madley Stables

    9am Walk to Tyberton

11am elevenses or 2nd Breakfast in Tyberton Church

11.30am Walk to Vowchurch and Turnastone

1.30pm Packed lunches at St Bartholomews

    2.30pm Walk to Peterchurch

4.30pm Drinks and Cakes in St Peters

5pm A pint in the Boughton Arms

Please bring a packed lunch, decent footwear and wet weather gear.

By that weekend I hope to have in place a brochure outlining our financial needs as a group of Parishes that will go to every household in our five villages. I am also hoping to invite our schools to join us and ask the Hereford Times to write up the whole enterprise.

On the Sunday May 7th we will gather together in Turnastone to celebrate with a Family Communion at 10.30am

    Rev Simon Lockett
